Daddy, more ice please

My little cutie pie of a nephew has been growing up nicely. He has been learning how to talk and has many vocabularies. One of the things that he absolutely loves is ice. All of us in the family have never seen any babies that love ice as much. The other night when we were having dinner he was munching on ice cubes yet again. As soon as the cup of ice ran out he wanted more. His mom then told him that he needed to say “daddy, more ice please.” He repeated after his mom and said the cutest ‘please’. Just imagine a child and his cubby cheeks smiling at the same time in a tiny voice that said please. Very cute! He will also repeat “a-ma (grandmother in Taiwanese) more cookies please.” This leads all of us to think that he understands a lot more than he is able to say. Of course, as a psychologist, I can say in a definite tone that he does understand a lot more than he is able to say.
